Students At Risk: The Difference between Cybersecurity and Student Safety
Merriam-Webster defines cybersecurity as “measures taken to protect a computer or computer system (as on the Internet) against unauthorized access or attack.” That definition has been expanded to include protecting our and our students’ data, privacy, and online profile. This is important, but addressing these topics alone can give a false sense of security. The greatest danger to students is often behind the firewalls and passwords, and cybersecurity education and restricted access aren’t the whole solution. Learn about these issues and how to provide a safety net.
